Newsletter - January 2018

Happy New Year! 2018 is expected to bring many exciting advances to the global aid and development communities.

A recent US$55 million financing has been approved to support remote African communities gaining access to renewable energy. The African Development Bank estimates that 600 million people lack access to electricity in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Preparations are underway for the 3rd annual Aid & Development Africa Summit next month in Nairobi, Kenya. This year, the AIDF team is particularly excited to launch the Innovator of the Year Award. With the call for innovative solutions to alleviate poverty and drive Africa towards the Sustainable Development Goals growing louder each day, the award celebrates individuals for their inspiring leadership, creative problem-solving and innovative approaches to humanitarian and development challenges.

While Johanes Koku Nyagblordzro, the Executive Chairman of the Center for Africa Development and Progress (CADeP) discusses a ‘turning point’ in Africa’s leadership and how to transform ideologies into creativity and innovation.
